We saw, he sung, we clapped, he wiggled and I can safely say George Michael has still got it what it takes to put on a huge arena sold out show. Fast Love opened the night followed by I'm Your Man where pictures of early Wham were placed on the screens on stage, Father Figure was beautiful and Everything She Wants was dam good (couldn't seem to make high notes though). George kept calling us Sydney throughout the first half and a lot of the crowd would chant "Melbourne, Melbourne" but that fell to his ears, it wasn't till after he break he apologised and blamed it on saying his mate called Sydney was in the crowd and that he was talking to him!
Melbourne was the final show for the George spectacular and in 114 shows he said Melbourne is the last stop. More songs included Star People and Too Funky which bit the bullet and provided more reasons for screaming and chaos around me.
Encore followed by Spin That Wheel, Feeling Good (Nina Simone cover) which had George puffing a tad (probably should have sung his own song then), then onto another cover (why why why?) of Roxanne and whilst he sung this the screens lit up with burlesque images.
For the song Outside a cop uniform was his clothing and finally we got Careless Whisper and Freedom.
Fantastic show, only bit I didn't like was the constant screen images of randomness when we could have been actually seeing him perform live on stage, sure we got that 50% of the time, but next time how about up that to at least 90%.
Thanks George, how about coming back before the next ten years are up!
